Art Club Summer Camp
☼ Portland Maine
● About
A space for young artists to create personally meaningful art among friends.
Art Club is a fun, creative and inclusive day camp program where young artists can play, experiment and create personally meaningful pieces of artwork! Camp weeks are divided up thematically by artistic medium. Each week participants will solve multiple visual art problems using the week’s artistic material focus.
Camp runs the weeks of June 22nd through August 21st. There will be no camp for the 4th of July holiday week, June 29th-July 3rd.
Camp hours are 9AM-3PM. Maximum enrollment is 15 students for the sessions that are 6+ and 20 students for the sessions that are for older groups. All activities are mixed ages, but we will consciously group kids by age and ability and ensure they always have peers that are similar in age near them.
Art Club is located in the residential neighborhood of North Deering in Portland in the Unitarian Universalist church at 524 Allen Ave. The location is convenient to the surrounding communities of Falmouth, Westbrook and Windham as well as Portland.
Camp registrations are by week and are organized by material and age. Registration paperwork will be emailed to you and will need to be filled out before your child starts camp.
If summer plans change and you need to cancel a full refund will be issued up to four weeks before the start of camp.
Join us for a fun, creative summer together!

Each week Art Club Summer Camp is organized by artistic material. We are offering two painting and drawing weeks, two sculpture weeks, a mixed media week, printmaking, mask making and textiles/fibers. Students are provided with choice regarding what specific projects they would like to do during the week.
Each day is divided into two parts—a morning and afternoon session. Within this structure participants choose a morning and afternoon project. Most weeks will include three or four project options, so students have plenty of opportunities to explore materials and make things that are personally meaningful to them! Campers are empowered to use their unique artistic voices for personal expression in combination with learning how to work with materials. We use the Harvard University Project Zero as framework for cultivating studio habits of mind to practice thinking like creators. You can read more about that here: eight_habits_of_mind .pdf
Besides making art, campers will have plenty of opportunities to build social connections with their peers. We will take an hour each day to eat lunch, play outside and socialize. The camp climate is inclusive, supportive, warm and friendly.
Please bring a water bottle, lunch and snack daily as well as sunscreen and/or bug spray. Extra t-shirts and smocks will be provided when we are working with messy materials, but campers may want to pack their own extra clothes or a set of studio ones.
